Nikki and Ryan's August Wedding at French's Point
A wedding at French’s Point is always a magical one, and even though a rainy Saturday made for all events to be indoors but the happiness and love between Ryan and Nikki couldn't be stopped by the weather! They were so gracious and helpful throughout the whole weekend.
Even though it was a smaller guest list than expected, most of the guests were also very helpful and made sure that Nikki and Ryan's day didn't have any more issues despite all the changes leading up to the day. The rain eventually cleared and Natalya was able to get some beautiful shots of the couple and their family/friends outside. Nikki and Ryan were so easy to work with!
Meet the couple
How did you meet?
Ryan and I grew up together in Winthrop, Maine, and if you dig hard enough you can find photos of us in the same kindergarten class. I had the biggest crush on Ryan in middle school. We went through school as friends and our friendship really blossomed in our senior year of high school.
We both ultimately ended up at the University of Maine - Orono (where it was Ryan's turn to be the one crushing on me) and were randomly assigned to the same floor in the same dorm. I will tell people that this is one of the best things that ever happened to us. We became the best of friends that year, but also best of friends with the people also randomly assigned to that floor, many of which attended our wedding.
We ultimately both ended up single after college in 2016 and realized that as we got older, life would likely change and we would grow apart, but neither of us wanted a life without the other. I've never had a best friend like Ryan which made transitioning our friendship to a relationship that much easier. The old adage that you should marry your best friend has really rung so true for us.
What is your favorite memory from your wedding day?
There are so many amazing memories, but our ceremony was really so special. Between seeing Ryan for the first time, our vows to each other, and just standing there hand in hand with him in front of our closest friends and family - it still is the most surreal feeling. And then having Ryan's father officiate was just the icing on the cake. He so thoughtfully put together such an amazing ceremony that made us and our guests both laugh and cry and truly embodied who we are as a couple.
A close runner-up is the speeches from Ryan's sister, Allie, and my brother, Nate. We saved our maid of honor (my sister) and best man (Ryan's brother) speeches for a celebration next year - and if it weren't for COVID, we would have never gotten to hear the thoughtful (and hilarious!) speeches from the two of them. I feel so thankful for that.
The best part about having a wedding planner? :)
Pinch Me Planning goes so far above and beyond what I would have anticipated for a typical day-of-coordination package and was worth every penny. If you are searching for a planner, day-of-coordinator, etc. - read this review and book ASAP.
With PMP you aren't just booking 60 days of coordination, you are booking a team that wholeheartedly loves their jobs and cares about you as a couple and instituting your vision for the day. I knew Christina was a match when she was helping me book a caterer before I had even signed a contract with her. She was SO supportive when our wedding was upended by COVID: from just providing words of positivity to helping us frantically find an amazing new photographer just 30 days out.
I am telling you.. the value you get BEFORE the day of, cannot be overlooked. For our wedding weekend, we had Carolyn as our lead planner, who I also can't say enough great things about. It ended up raining on our wedding day and we were making decisions to change the entire event the day before. Carolyn handled all the logistics with our vendors, sending emails while I was able to sit back and enjoy the rehearsal dinner. I can honestly attribute a lot of my calmness the day of to Carolyn - she has a positive, we are going to make it work attitude that allowed me to relax regardless of the chaos the rain brought. I can't possibly thank the PMP team enough, they felt like friends through the entire process and helped make our wedding weekend perfect.
