Amanda Libby : Maine Wedding Photographer

When it comes time to plan a wedding, deciding on your team of wedding vendors is a hugely important part of the process. One of the most important vendors you need to book is a wedding photographer. Your wedding day will come (and very sadly) go faster than you can imagine, but beautiful wedding photographs will help you and your family relive the day over and over and over again.

If you’re planning a wedding in Maine, consider yourself in luck. Over the past few years we’ve had the privilege of working with countless unique, and high quality Maine wedding photographers. Many have been working as wedding photographers in Maine for years, meaning they have experience in all seasons, all over the state, and perhaps even at your venue!

Today we want to shine a spotlight on one of our absolute favorite wedding photographers in Maine: Amanda Libby of The Libbys Photo and Films.

A Favorite Wedding Photographer in Maine

Amanda of The Libbys is a wedding and lifestyle photographer located in Maine, and she also happens to be one of my closest wedding industry friends. I met Amanda at my very first industry networking event (thanks Maria!). She later reached out to see if I wanted to collaborate on a styled shoot.  At the time, I had no idea what that even met! We became fast friends and later even decided to open our own business together.  We coincidentally got engaged in the same year and now we are working each other’s weddings!

I’m quick to recommend The Libbys to all of my clients still in need of a wedding photographer or videographer. Not only do we work well together behind the scenes, but Amanda’s kindness and passion is evident the moment you meet her, and her work is breathtaking.

If you’re planning your own wedding and in need of a Maine wedding photographer, look no further than The Libbys. Keep reading to learn more about Amanda, her passion, and her photography business.

Get to Know Amanda

How did you get started doing what you do?

I photographed my first wedding when I was in high school (crazy!) and began taking portraits of friends and family. I continued through college being a part time wedding and portrait photographer while I studied communications and marketing at the University of Southern Maine. It wasn't until about a year and a half out of college that I decided I wanted to take my passion full time and took the leap! I've never looked back.

Who or what continues to inspire you?

I'm inspired by the people I work with and their relationships that help tell their story. After each wedding or portrait session I pinch myself because I feel like the lucky one to play such an important role in their special moments. I'm always meeting new people and exploring new places which continually leaves me inspired.

What do you enjoy doing on your day off?

I'm sure you know, as a small business owner it never feels like you truly have a "day off". However, during the quieter days you can find me snuggled with my pup, attending a spin or barre class, being a tourist in my own city, and squeezing in as much quality time with family and friends.

Wedding trend that you're loving right now?

Wedding weekends! As a bride myself, I love seeing the new trends in the industry. But one that really resonated with me was more couples having wedding weekends! I loved the idea of celebrating with your closest family and friends all weekend long vs. just an eight hour day. This takes the pressure off of "making rounds" during your reception and allows you to spend more quality time with all your favorite people.

What do you see as the added value to hiring a wedding planner or coordinator?

Messaging Christina was one of the first things I did after getting engaged! After being in the industry I saw countless weddings without a wedding planner or coordinator and saw how stressed my couples were. For me - peace of mind is priceless. Who cares about the flowers or the cake when you're stressing out worrying about timeline and logistics? The opportunity to really relax enjoy not just my wedding day, but the entire planning process is invaluable to me.
