Elegant Winter Wedding at the Ocean Gateway
As a wedding planner in Maine, when a bride mentions having a winter wedding, I get a little bit nervous. Afterall, Maine’s weather is unpredictable to say the least. But Colleen and Tommy’s wedding day defied all odds (and the weather gods too). We steered clear of a major snowstorm, and were lucky to catch just a light snowfall that made for epic photos. Jill Holye, a seasoned Maine wedding photographer took advantage of the wintery weather and captured wedding photos that truly epitomize an elegant, winter wedding in Maine.
In anticipation of the winter weather, Colleen, the bride secured an amazing fur earlier in the week at a local vintage shop - a detail that was both beautiful and practical.
Northeast Charter Tour provided a white trolley that transported the wedding party from The Press Hotel and to the beautiful Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception. The couple’s wedding venue, Ocean Gateway, was adorned with a wave of lights to hang over the reception like stars overhead. The head table also had hanging lights and greenery executed by the talented FIELD floral. We love this touch to call attention to the couple’s special people in a wedding that exceeded 200 guests.

Q&A with the bride, Colleen
1.) How did you and your husband meet?
We met through friends, who were in the city visiting from our respective hometowns. Chemistry sparked at a small get together at Tommy’s apartment in downtown Manhattan and he wasted no time securing a formal date for just the two of us.
2.) What is your favorite memory from your wedding day?
Walking into the venue on the arm of my new hubs and seeing the venue space (I had been to many times before) all put together better than I had ever imagined. It felt like it was truly mine and seeing all the smiling faces of all of our loved ones surrounding us. It was so warm and welcoming.
3.) What was your favorite part about having a wedding planner?
Feeling so assured that things would go as planned and unplanned things (like a foot of snow) would make the whole day even more special and unique.
