Lily and Christian's Oceanfront Wedding at the Viewpoint Hotel

Lily and Christian were originally a 2020 couple before postponing to 2021. On the day of the much anticipated wedding, an unexpected rain storm presented an opportunity for some creative problem solving for the vendor team. There was a slight delay on the start of the ceremony as we waited for the rainstorm to pass. As Lily walked down the aisle, the clouds parted and the rain cleared in time for the perfect outdoor ceremony, just like the couple dreamed of. It was so rewarding to be able to work around the elements to bring this amazing day to life, and we were so proud to be part of it!

MEET THE COUPLE

How did you and your partner meet?

We met 9 years ago working at a cafe in Somerville, MA called True Grounds. I had worked there through college, and when I returned to Boston after living in Thailand after college, I went back to work at True Grounds. My first shift back was with Christian, who had started working there during my time in Thailand. We instantly connected, and spent months becoming best friends. Everyone, including our boss, thought we were dating that whole time! When we did start dating about 6 months later, we had this strong foundation of friendship that made our relationship immediately feel extremely solid (and that's never changed!).

What is your favorite memory from your wedding day?

It's so hard to pick a favorite memory from my wedding day, but it's hard to beat the magic I felt when, after waiting out the rain and starting our ceremony late, the skies cleared literally as I walked down the stairs for our ceremony and, like a wave, all our guests closed their umbrellas. We were able to have such a special, intimate ceremony with the incredible views at the Viewpoint that we had dreamed of for 2 years (after having to postpone). I also loved the joy of greeting all our friends and family after the ceremony, with the stormy seas and a rainbow in the sky. It was such a dream, and one so long in the making.

Favorite part about having a coordinator from PMP?

Hiring Pinch Me Planning was one of the best things we did for our wedding. Christina helped us navigate a postponed wedding with grace and ease, and always made us feel informed and supported. As we (finally, a year later) approached our wedding date, she and her team kept in close contact to make sure every detail was accounted for. Trust me: you want someone managing all the details, vendor logistics, and planning in the last few months before your wedding. As someone who is pretty Type A, Christina made me feel 100% confident that nothing was going to be missed. She also gave great advice throughout the process. Where Christina was at her absolute best, though, was the day of our wedding itself. We woke up to POURING rain, and Christina was an absolute champ - she covered all the possible backup plans, worked with all our vendors, and kept checking in with me throughout the day with weather updates and rain plans. When it became clear that the rain was going to clear about a half hour after our ceremony start time, she helped me make the decision to start late by reminding me that this was the moment I had waited 2 years for, and that no one was going to be upset with a late start time. That really helped calm me down, and she was absolutely right - all our guests were happily waiting with cocktails and cold apps, and the rain cleared half an hour late and we were able to have the perfect ceremony and evening. I know coordinating a wedding in the rain couldn't have been fun or easy, but Christina did it flawlessly.
