What was the inspiration behind this moodboard?

While reading through a Women’s Wear Daily (WWD) article titled, “Pantone Says Experiment With Amberglow, Samba, Classic Blue, and More,” a few colors caught our attention.

Obviously, the first being Classic Blue. Why? Because it’s Pantone’s 2020 Color of the Year. Resembling the sky at dusk, this blue hue is said to be centered around “instilling calm, confidence, and connection,” and it “highlights our desire for a dependable and stable foundation on which to build as we cross the threshold into a new era.”

With those descriptor words, it seems like an obvious choice for the foundation of a color palette during such a monumental event. Don’t you think? We love the idea of incorporating Classic Blue into textiles, dinnerware, and even a few bridal accessories.

Next up, say hello to Green Sheen—aka the highlighter-esque yellow you’re seeing sprinkled throughout the above moodboard. While a bit on the bright side, it’s a lovely complement to Classic Blue, further showcasing the beauty of this time of year (yay for warmer, sunnier days). So, where exactly can you weave in such a bold color? Think of your wedding invitations and stationery, signature cocktails, and ceremony and reception signage.

And, last but not least, when spring has sprung, we all know what that means: green is in full swing. Use plenty of greenery—throughout your bouquet and ceremony and reception decór—to help marry the two bold hues.

Wait, is a moodboard really necessary when designing and planning a wedding?

We’re glad you asked. Long story short - absolutely

But, if you’re looking for the full scoop, here’s a fun fact for you: Pinch Me Planning started out in 2016 to serve as an outlet for Christina’s love of design. That said, moodboards, in our opinion, are a seriously important piece of our process to plan elevated events with an edge because they:

  • keep you on track so you can stay true to your original vision when new ideas are always popping up in your Instagram and Pinterest feeds.

  • make it easier to communicate your vision to your vendors so you can avoid any misinterpretation.

  • allow for the opportunity to create a truly one-of-a-kind event that showcases your unique style as a couple. You won’t find any cookie-cutter weddings here!
